Since moving to out new house it’s been a pain in the ass reaching my servers from inside my LAN. I found out that it’s due to “Filter WAN NAT direction” in the DD-WRT firmware. Although it’s disabled I have to enter this firewall command:

/usr/sbin/iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -d xx.xx.xx.0/24 -s xx.xx.xx.0/24 -j MASQUERADE

Updated the software on my virtual host today.  A fresh install of my virtualization software, without changing the datastores. Everything went smoothly, powered on the virtual servers and everything is back online.

Also upgraded my Adaptec 3405 with the latest firmware and took time to remove dust from my server. The whole procedure took about 2 hours.

Just wanted to make myself an Internet Router using an USB modem

I succeded in doing so using an old Broadcom router (Asus WL500g Deluxe) and flashed it with 3rd. party firmware  CDMA@wifi from Koppel – I Entered settings below, but kept my Huawei E180 protected by pin-code, so had to modify one of the chat scripts before success. Se howto below.

Telnet into router and then

1) Open /tmp/ppp/gprs/gprs.chat (with vi or any or editor) 
2) Fint the line containing ATI and after that add ” ‘AT+CPIN=****’
3) Save the file
4) Then add with vi editor to your ‘/tmp/local/.files’ the full path of gprs.chat
file ‘/tmp/ppp/gprs/gprs.chat’
5) the run flashfs save && flashfs commit && flashfs enable && reboot

My Samsung LE46M87BD, a little more than 2 years old :(, have during the last month or two had problems starting up. The relay just clicking on/off for longer and longer time and the TV about 10 minutes to power on.

Found the solution on a german forum. Seems like lots of people have this problem with the power supply.

The solution was to exchange 3 x 1000uF on the PS board shown at a picture in the link above. Took me appx 2 hours disassembling the TV and assembling it again. Cost for these 3 components is among 10,- dkr without delivery.

Luckily I’ve got a spare 500mb harddrive because suddenly this evening my RAID5 crashed due to a failing drive. RAID5 is rebuilding. Also i just found out that my harddrive that was produced 3 years ago still has 20 days warranty left!

During the last month I just upgraded our server with new hardware,  and reinstalled everything. My virtual servers  are finally up and running.  Webserver is apache2 on ubuntu linux 9.04 server edition.
